Chipping Campden Town Hall
Jessop’s were very pleased to be awarded the contract for renewing the old Victorian porch roof on the Chipping Campden Town Hall by the Town Trust.
This roof was in a very poor state of repair. The slates were beyond salvage, the flashings to the oriel windows were split, the lower lead box gutter lead work was dilapidated. A complete strip and renewal was essential. When the slates were stripped off rotten timbers were exposed to the roof slope and the box gutter. These were replaced with kiln-dried, treated timbers before re-slating could commence. Reclaimed, traditional Welsh slate was used. It was not practical to remove the oriel window so a new code 5 lead apron flashing was carefully inserted under the existing window. No more umbrellas needed by visitors to the town hall!
